Suze’s Prescott Center for the Arts (PCA) is holding a two-day Grand Opening for the new Studio Theater from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 24 during the 4th Friday ArtWalk and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 25.

A recent campus expansion added a 99-seat black box Studio Theater equipped with state-of-the-art technology including energy-efficient LED lighting, surround sound and immersive video projection capabilities, a studio gallery, three classrooms and a large multi-use rehearsal/classroom/meeting space.

A future 100-seat amphitheater will provide even more space for innovative community programming.

The recent 8,000 square-foot expansion now allows Suze’s PCA to expand its focus on youth to offer a full range of after-school programs, affordable summer and school break camps, as well as youth training programs, internships and career mentorships with professional artists, all while facilitating employment for artist-teachers at the center and through community partnerships in Yavapai County.

The Saturday event features activities across the PCA Campus, including an artists’ booth, bounce house, face painting, arts and crafts, chalk art, raffles and full campus tours and food from The County Seat.

The Galactagogues will perform live music from 12 to 1:30 p.m., followed by The Cheektones from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Following the grand opening activities on Saturday there will be food catered by El Gato Azul for ticket holders of the two evening shows. At 6 p.m. in the Studio Theater, see Still Life with Iris. Then, at 7:30 p.m. see The Taming of the Shrew in the Cabaret.
