Calling all parents and grandparents! Are your grandchildren visiting this summer? Are you looking for ideas to keep your kids active, occupied and entertained at the same time?

Well, the Phippen Museum has just the answer for you. For a few hours a week in June and July, the museum is holding a special Youth Mini Camp, offering a variety of fun-filled, hands-on, interactive activities for kids ages 6-10. Each day will offer a different theme and young minds will be kept busy and involved in creative art projects and interesting history lessons featuring themes of the American West.

The first session is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 20-21. Thursday’s program will focus on forest animals, and participants will create pinecone ravens and owls and learn all about their habits and habitat. Then on Friday, they’ll explore the fascinating world of reptiles, learning how they survive and thrive in the rugged American Southwest.

In addition, little hands will be kept busy painting rocks and making rock snakes and popsicle stick lizards. So don’t miss this entertaining and educational opportunity for children. The cost is $25 per day for members of the museum and $30 for non-members. Young campers bring their own lunches, and the museum provides cold drinks and a snack.

Additional dates for Phippen’s Youth Mini Camp are June 27-28, July 11-12, July 18-19, and July 25-26. Kids can attend all the dates listed, or just one. Come join the Phippen Museum as they guide kids through the step-by-step process of creating a variety of unique arts and crafts projects. Day campers will be provided with all the materials necessary for these exciting art adventures. But class size is limited to 20 kids each day, so you’ll want to register right away.
