Take a journey through Ireland’s history from the ancient, rich-in-legend-and-myth, to the modern, urban Ireland that we see today. A Prescott audience favorite, Rhythm of the Dance returns to the stage for two performances to kick off the holiday season at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, and at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center, located on Yavapai College’s Prescott Campus, 1100 E. Sheldon St.
Rhythm of the Dance has brought audiences around the world to their feet for 24 years, and it’s now one of the top three Irish step dance shows in the world. The long-running tour has been refreshed for 2023, with a new script, choreography, costumes and music, along with updated multimedia features.
The underlying story remains the same, a recounting of the journey of the Irish Celts throughout history through traditional and modern forms of dance and song. Featuring world class musicians, star vocalists and champion dancers, the show is a completely captivating experience of pulsating rhythms performed at lightning speed by a live band and slick choreography executed with precision and flair by an ensemble of top-tier step dancers, a news release stated.
After the two-hour whirlwind performance, audiences “will leave the theater feeling that they have been on a trip around Ireland, and they will have a strong impression of our culture and our music,” said producer Kieran Cavanagh in the release. “It’s full of flailing feet and fiddles, futuristic dances, eye-catching lighting and costumes, and sensational sound effects.”
Tickets for Rhythm of the Dance start at $39. The show is also offered as part of JLLPAC’s new Holidazzle Package, where patrons may choose three holiday performances and save 10%, or choose five holiday performances and save 15%, plus pay no ticket fees.
Additional performances for the Holidazzle Package include Jake Shimabukuro: Christmas in Hawai’i (Dec. 1), Handel’s Messiah (Dec. 2 and 3); Pink Martini featuring China Forbes (Dec. 14); and The Nutcracker featuring Ballet Victoria (Dec. 16 and 17).
