Say “Good morning” to the captivating showbiz tale adapted from what’s widely considered the greatest movie musical of all time. Yavapai College’s Performing Arts Department sings and dances up a storm as starry-eyed actors discover their voices — and romance — at the dawn of talking pictures in the stage version of “Singin’ in the Rain,” Nov. 2-5 and 9-12, at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center, 1100 E. Sheldon St.
Hollywood 1927 is the setting for this zany, light-hearted romantic comedy about the early days of sound film. Monumental Pictures finds itself scrambling to salvage the good fortune found in its string of “Lockwood & Lamont” mega hits — mainly due to a vocally-challenged leading lady. Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are the silent screen stars who’ve been romantically linked on-screen and off (well, at least in Lina’s mind). But when they are forced to contend with a new musical “talkie,” Lina’s woeful lack of skills must be remedied, a news release stated.
It’s a “delectable treat of swoon-worthy songs, rollicking tap and dance, and charming storytelling, when the electrifying 20th century was on the move.” From glorious standards like “You Stepped Out of a Dream” to comedy gold like “Make ‘Em Laugh” to the show-stopping title song performed with several thousand gallons of water at the ready, this classic is filled with memorable songs.
“We’re thrilled for the opportunity to bring the iconic Gene Kelly movie to life on our stage with a talented cast from our arts community,” Director Craig John Ralston said.

Simpson), Daniel Shepherd (Roscoe Dexter), Ruby Tomasovitch (Zelda Zanders), Marnie Uhl (Dora Bailey), Duncan Calhoun (Rod), Monte Reichert (Diction Teacher), and Radford Crews (Sid Phillips) round out the supporting cast.
