The Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet (MFAB) is set to honor the legacy of Dame Margot Fonteyn with its 33rd annual Fonteyn Celebration Week, taking place May 13-17 at various locations in Prescott. The week will feature a series of workshops, film screenings and masterclasses, culminating in a fundraising gala at the Ruth Street Theater on May 17.
Throughout the week, participants can engage in activities ranging from visual arts workshops to drama classes, with sessions held at MFAB facilities within Mile-High Middle School. The highlight of the week, the fundraising gala, will showcase the “Swan Lake Suite” at the Prescott High School campus, starting at 5 p.m.
This year’s gala will star Rainer Krenstetter, MFAB’s Associate Artistic director, along with noted performers Tricia Albertson, Emily Bromberg, and Principal Dancer Chase Swatosh. The event will also feature performances by MFAB students and visiting artists, including participants from Japan and the local Beautiful Feet Ballet studio.
The celebration also includes a film night on May 14, featuring the 1964 movie “Swan Lake” starring Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev, enhancing the educational experience with a touch of historical performance.
