The Launch Pad sent out a holiday greeting in December with the help of Courtney Osterfelt, The Launch Pad’s executive director and founder, with a story about a teen named “Caution” starting a lunch program for teens unable to afford lunches called All Access Pass.

All Access Pass gives a teen one meal a day for free and an annual scholarship to any of The Launch Pad programs that has a fee.

An organization noted by Arizona Philharmonic (AZ Phil) Principal Timpanist Maria Flurry, as doing good things for the youth in our community, she approached The Launch Pad’s program director James Malek with a collaborative idea.

Flurry’s upcoming manos percussion show is more youth oriented than some AZ Phil productions and she has a lot of big instruments that need to be set up for the Sunday, Feb. 5, performance at Yavapai College Performing Arts Center (YCPAC).

According to the news release, Flurry wondered if Caution (who also plans The Launch Pad music shows) and some of his buddies would like to help and experience firsthand what it’s like to stage a professional musical performance.

At the culmination of the performance, Flurry asked to get together with the group to discuss what they heard and saw, let them ask questions, and explore how to further collaborate going forward, a news release stated.

Malek agreed and is rounding up half a dozen or so of The Launch Pad members to help stage Manos Percussion’s rehearsal Friday, Feb. 3, and show on Sunday.

In addition to free tickets to the show for The Launch Pad helpers and their families, AZ Phil is contributing a portion of each ticket sold to Caution’s All Access Pass fund and encourages audience members and the community to do the same, by visiting azphil.org/donate. Please add into the comment line that it’s for Caution’s All Access Pass.
